The 2015 en primeur campaign has hit its stride with a significant number of releases last week and some notables at the start of this. The general trend has been for the release prices to reflect the quality of the vintage rather than a market correction on perceived over-priced, lesser quality vintages in 2012 – 2014. Accordingly, we have has seen a number of the chateaux issue their 2015 vintage at prices more than 30% higher than the 2014 vintage.
Despite this the market is certainly active even with currency still going slightly against Sterling purchasers. Ultimately, for some merchants, they cannot afford to miss out and not be part of the initial issue and for others they have no choice with large positions established over decades of trading that must be acquired every year, a fact that has left a number of London merchants stung over recent vintages.
As a specialist in investment-grade wines, our focus is highly tuned on a small number of key chateaux and price is an extremely important part of the mix. We have secured a number to date and with the First Growths and Super brands of St Emilion and Sauternes expected imminently we will be contacting our clients with a select parcel of wines we believe offer the best value for investors.
Our view – certainly 2015 is a key vintage for all appreciators of fine wine and definitely one an investor should include in their portfolio. To register for information on the 2015 En Primeur and your interest in acquiring an allocation and for more information contact us now on 0203 384 2262
