Austin Healey has joined the Vin-X team, having been a client since 2012. A rugby union professional, Austin was a core member of the Leicester Tigers team and recorded 51 caps for England, as well as 2 for the British and Irish Lions.
Following retirement from Leicester Tigers at the end of the 2005/6 season, Healey commenced a new career with Credit Suisse while continuing to work as a rugby analyst with the BBC.
Recognised as a versatile professional, Austin further enhanced his growing celebrity status in 2008, when he took part in the BBC’s hit show Strictly Come Dancing, making it through to the quarter-finals.
Austin’s role as non-executive director will be to assist the senior team in developing its business development strategy going forward.
Vin-X CEO, Peter Shakeshaft, stated “We are delighted that Austin has joined the team. Although he is known for his rugby prowess, he is also a “City” man. Being a client for a number of years he has seen first hand both the value of investing in fine wine and working with a specialist broker such as Vin-X. Austin’s connections and business skills will undoubtedly further assist Vin-X in its goal to be the pre-eminent wine broker in the UK and international markets.”
