Following last weeks’ en primeur 2013 tastings Liv-Ex has undertaken its annual survey of the international wine trade to track the consensus amongst the best professional tasters of young Bordeaux. Some of the key findings included the following:
- Yquem is the wine of the 2013 vintage – this in line with our experience of the tasting this year
- Grand Puy Lacoste tops the “value for money” category.
- Margaux was the most disappointing wine (but also the third favourite) – illustrating the divisiveness of 2013 – Margaux’s radical approach this year losing its Merlot constituent is going to upset the traditionalists for sure and split opinion.
- The vintage scored 88 (out of 100) on average, the same as 2007.
