Chateau Pavie 2018:
“Possibly the wine of the vintage” – 98 – 100 points, Jeb Dunnuck
“Amazing, singular wine—it could only be Pavie” 97 – 100 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Advocate
Pavie is one of the key Bordeaux 2018 wines for investors and in our view probably the most exciting of the iconic Right Bank Chateaux to follow right now.
Gerard Perse, owner of Chateau Pavie, is a man on a mission. Enormously successful he built a supermarket empire from scratch and having turned his attention to fine wine is delivering impressive results with Vignobles Perse, the flagship vineyard being Chateau Pavie.
He acquired Pavie in 1998 and his vision and investment saw the Chateau reclassified to St Emilion Grand Cru Classe A in 2012. His ambitions are significant, with a quality ranking now on a par with the iconic Chateaux Ausone and Cheval Blanc, the original two Classe A estates, Gerard Perse and his team are working with the long game plan of Pavie achieving market prices in line with the First Growths.
Consistently improving quality scores has driven demand and increasingly higher valuations in en primeur releases and back vintages. With the certainty of continued investment and a committed team Chateau Pavie is a banker!
Couple this with the overall quality of the 2018 vintage which has been highly rated by leading critics. Comparisons are now being made to exceptional years such as 2009, 2010 and 2016. Notably Chateau Pavie is one of the top scored wine of this great vintage.
