Domaine de la Romanee-Conti “Super lot” breaks world record

In our blog of the 4th September we flagged up the possibility that the world record for a single lot of fine wine might be shattered at Sotheby's October auction in Hong Kong. The thirst for Burgundy did not diminish and the record has indeed been broken by an Asian collector who paid $1.6 million for the 114 bottle "super lot" of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Despite the pro-democracy protests the sale was well-attended with 96% of lots sold and 99.5% sold by value.
