Wine and cricket enthusiast and Times columnist Geoffrey Dean joins Vin-X

I am delighted to welcome Geoffrey Dean to the Vin-X team. Geoffrey is well-known throughout the industry, a noted commentator on wine in trade and national press, who adds great knowledge and experience to our growing team of specialists. Geoffrey’s first focus will be to digest and communicate the first predictions and comments on the 2015 vintage, as the harvest begins in the next few weeks, we will keep you posted.

Geoffrey Dean has been writing about wine for the trade magazine, Harpers, since 2010. A passionate cricketer, he appeared for Worcestershire and Somerset second eleven, as well as playing for MCC at Lord’s, the MCG and SCG. He was also in the first Eton Ramblers side to win the Cricketer Cup and now writes on county and international cricket for The Times, as well as on travel for various magazines. He is an Associate of the Institute of Wines and Spirits, having passed the WSET Diploma and is currently on the Master of Wine programme after winning the IMW’s Esterhazy Scholarship.

Geoffrey’s experience and contacts in the world of wine makes him a valuable addition to our growing team of market specialists. His experience and knowledge further strengthens the service we deliver both to our clients and as a media commentator in terms of information we provide on key investment-grade wines, market developments and general industry news.

He and I will be travelling to join our Bordeaux-based director, Renaud Ruer, for the 2015 harvest to sample some of the region’s great wines, and hear the first impressions on this new vintage. With an initial focus on Saint Emilion’s Chateaux Angelus, Troplong Mondot and d’Yquem, I look forward to sharing our findings with you soon.
