The prices of investment wines have held an upward trajectory throughout the Covid-era to date, delivering strong returns to owners.

In September 2021, the Liv-ex 100 levelled up with the former record set a decade ago in 2011, as market activity continued to strengthen. October’s strong trading month has taken that performance to record levels. Now twenty years old, the Liv-ex 100’s cumulative lifetime performance shows a gain of 272.4%, surpassing the blue-chip S&P500.
Burgundy wines have been key drivers of growth in the last year with strong levels of trade in the secondary market. The region has fully recovered in 2021 from the price drift experienced in 2020 and has seen demand and values rise across the year to date, making the Liv-ex Burgundy 150 the top performing regional index in Q3. Investors are also seeking out older vintages and their prices are rising.
