The Vin-X team were delighted to host an exclusive dinner with Chateau Troplong Mondot for the Trevor Downing Practice LLP at London’s extraordinary In & Out Club on the 12th October, 2015.
Following a champagne reception Mr Xavier Pariente, the owner of Chateau Troplong Mondot, provided a fascinating insight into the unique properties of one of the stars of Saint Emilion. He delighted our guests with an explanation of his own very individual approach to wine-making and the history of the chateau.
Chateau Troplong Mondot sits on one of the highest points in the region with views over the vineyards to the medieval village of Saint-Emilion. Its terroir is adjacent to Chateau Pavie and is traditionally planted with the best varietals of this region of Bordeaux; Merlot, providing the powerful structure of the wines, Cabernet Franc for delicacy and elegance, and Cabernet Sauvignon for personality and longevity.
We were privileged to enjoy extremely rare wines provided by Mr Pariente from the Chateau Cellar; Château Troplong Mondot 2004, 1998, 2009 and 2010 (please click on the dates for information on each vintage).
Wine correspondent for trade and national press, Geoffrey Dean, provided further insight to St Emilion as a wine growing region and the chateau’s ascendency to one of the top producers in the appellation in recent years.
Chateau Troplong Mondot has an award-winning restaurant and exquisite rooms onsite and is the perfect base to explore this wonderful area of Bordeaux. For more information please visit their website http://www.chateau-troplong-mondot.com.
